It looks like the upcoming iPhone 8 isn't going to have a screen bezel. That's according to a couple of iOS app developers called Steve Troughton-Smith and Guilherme Rambo.

The pair found an icon in the code for the HomePod speaker firmware that certainly suggests that screen edges are going to be a thing of the past in the iPhone range.

Interestingly, it looks like the Home button could be a think of the past as well. It looks set to be replaced with 3D face mapping. You'll hold your phone up to your face, and an infrared scanner will make sure that you're you.
IT IS MY FACE
Which sounds a bit bonkers if you ask me, but since no one ever asks me, I don't suppose that really matters.

This could also be the end of TouchID, although the smart money is on the screen itself having some sort of print-recognition hardware.

Of course this could all be nonsense, but since it was discovered in some of Apple's own code, it's worth taking with a smaller pinch of salt than usual.

Hopefully we'll find out next month, when most people think that Apple is going to be announcing its latest handset.
Techradar
If you're looking for a small puzzle game to occupy a spare minute then Q42 has two of them, both of which are free.

Last year, creator Martin Kool (the human behind Q42) released 0h h1 on the web, as well as iOS [download], Android [download], and Windows Phone [download].

It has you tapping to turn each tile in a grid either blue or red. You have to use observation to figure out which colour each tile needs to be.

Quite simply, you cannot have three tiles of the same colour next to each other. And each row and column must contain two tiles of each colour.

It's similar to Sudoku, in a way, but is actually based on Takuzu or Binairo - replacing numbers with colours.
0h, Kool
Now, Kool has released a companion to 0h h1 called 0h n0, which is quite similar.

In 0h n0 you have to tap to fill a grid with blues and reds once again. However, this time the blue tiles tell you how many like-coloured tiles in their row and column they can see.

The red tiles block the view of the blue tiles. And so, using this knowledge, you should be able to slowly fill the grid up. This time the inspiration is Japanese Kuromasu.

You can download 0h n0 for free on iOS [download], Android [download], and Windows Phone [download]. You can also play it in your browser on its website.

Researchers in Indiana reckon they've come up with a way to reduce the feeling of motion sickness and nausea that some players experience when playing virtual reality games.

Your tummy can go funny because your perceptual system goes bananas when the motion of your body is out of sync with what your eyes are seeing. So if you're sat in a chair but your eyes see you walking forward, you're on your way to puke town.

Researchers saw that the feeling was less intense when games had a fixed visual reference like a car dashboard - but that's not always applicable in every game.

But then, some smart student at Purdue University thought of something that's always with you and doesn't move: your nose. And it turns out that giving yourself a virtual nose can cut down on simulator sickness.

The university had 41 testers play a pair of VR games - a quiet walk about a serene villa, and a stomach-churning thrill ride. Some were playing with virtual noses, and some weren't.

And the team found that the nose worked, if only a little.

With the nose, people could play the Villa game for an additional 94.2 seconds without feeling nauseous. And those playing the roller coaster game lasted 2.2 seconds longer when rocking the digital shnoz.

Then again, Valve reckons it has solved the problem entirely with its upcoming Vive headset, with head honcho Gabe Newell claiming that zero percent of players get sick. The reason is partly due to the body-tracking Lighthouse technology.
Destructoid
